Roof Tear-Off Debris Removal Is the First Step for a New Flat Roofing Installation

The purpose of a commercial roof tear off is to remove the old components that were used in your previous roofing system. This includes removing the metal eave drip, underlayment and pipe boot flashing. During this process, the roofing contractor will also inspect the decking for any damage or areas that need to be replaced before installing your new roof. Like This Service

Prior to the start of the roof tear-off, your Central PA roofing contractor will take the proper steps to protect your home and property. This typically means putting down protective tarps and setting up an industrial trash container. This will prevent any damage from falling debris.

Roof Tear-Off Cleanup and Debris Disposal

Once the tarps and trash containers are set up, your roofers will begin the tear-off process. They’ll work in sections, starting at the peak of your roof and working their way down. They’ll use shingle rakes or pitchforks to pry up the shingles, making sure not to damage the existing roof decking. They’ll then peel back the underlayment and carefully pull out any nails that have been left behind.

Using this method is much faster than simply tossing all the shingles. However, it puts a lot of stress on the workers and can create a mess on your lawn as they have to keep picking up shingles and nails all day long. It’s also not as environmentally friendly.
